My life is in these really lovely shambles right now.

That time of summer has arrived when everyone else is gone or in school and I'm just chillin' and waiting for Stanford to start. I find it very refreshing.

I started the official college shopping and packing today. Ikea and Bed Bath and Beyond. The latter is very overpriced, but I got some essentials. I'm really really trying not to overpack, but there is just so much stuff that I have and it seems like a waste to let it sit here while I'm gone. I need to crack down on the clothing, though, because we all know I will never put it away or wash any of it and my roommate will probably hate me. It's going to be interesting to meet the person I'll be living with for the next year. Such a mystery...? I hope she likes my gnome lamp.

Well, it seems I have nothing more to say for myself. The lull before the storm!!!

but I do have AWESOME WATERPROOF PICTURES from Sakura's last day adventures on friday

Camp-a-Lot [Aug. 20th, 2007|11:33 pm]
I have some golden pictures from camp. Only being able to work one session was a bit of a bummer cause I had so much fun this year. Camp-a-Lot is definitely some kind of alternate universe.

http://picasaweb.google.com/smoskitis/CampALot2007

I'll have more details later but Devon and I are hitting up Knott's Berry Farm tomorrow, so I need my beauty rest. (It took me five tries to spell beauty just then)

Nippon! [Aug. 8th, 2007|11:33 pm]
So, I got back from Japan about four days ago after spending three nights in Terminal One of the Tokyo airport trying to get to America on stand-by (saving $1,000). Not as bad as it sounds. Sakura and I were reading Harry Potter aloud, which takes up time.

The trip was pretty intensely fabulous. I was not prepared for Japan to be so Japanese. It sounds stupid, but it's true. There were kimonos everywhere. I went days without seeing another blonde. Anime characters animated official instructions and signs. Hello Kitty! The entire country is flooded with cell phone charms. And green tea and sweet bean everything. Along with a bunch of very strange food. I ate raw horse, jelly fish, and fermented soy beans. yum...ish. The people there are wonderful. Sakura's aunt and uncle were super sweet and gave me a bunch of Harry Potter stuff. They even looked up Placebo online when I mentioned them (ha!) and they didn't speak any English, which made things a bit more interesting. Hand signals all the way. I ate everything to show my appreciation.

The Engrish was plentiful "All we need is love is we need!". I got stantionary that says "are you looking for delicious pears? we want to bring delicious pears to you!". In a word, fabulous. I usually hate shopping but I wanted to buy everything I saw. EVERYTHING.

And my birthday was really good. We set off fireworks at midnight in an alley in Kyoto with some Australian brothers (named Mark and Ben, who should be my besties for life) we met at the hostel and the next day we biked around some shops and down this long canal path. I majesticall ATE IT on my bike and that night we went for Japanese curry and KARAOKE with the Australians. One of the most surreal and stupidly fun nights of my life. I did my Axl Rose impression.

and I need to give a belated thank you for all the fun birthday messages. I think the best one's came from people who are on livejournal, haha, so this should cover some bases. You are all wonderfull and you make my day.

It still feels great to be home and to be back in my normal routine of doing nothing and seeing my friends and sleeping not on the floor (not to diss futons).

!!!!!!!!!!! AND I HAVE A BUNCH OF PICTURES http://picasaweb.google.com/smoskitis/Nippon !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I leave for Japan in a few hours
I don't want to sleep, but I know that is a bad idea.

I just keep having images of me struggling with chopsticks, not fitting in furniture, knocking things over, getting lost, unknowingly eating horse intestines, and geniunely loving every second of it.

wish me luck!

why, Mrs. Bradley, why? [Jul. 7th, 2007|12:07 am]
I got a C- on my Calculus final this year. With a massive curve. It was one of (if not the) lowest grades in the class.
I thought I would get kicked out of Stanford for getting a C first semester.
I didn't even study for the AP test, thinking there was no hope.
I considering changing majors as I obviously could not handle chemistry if I was so inept.

then I got a 5 on the AP test.
a five is the highest possible grade.

WHAT THE BEEF?!

yes, I'm happy about the grade. but WHY did OLP do this to me?
It's like a sick joke.

Summertime and the wind is blowing outside [Jun. 27th, 2007|11:33 pm]
I know I haven't updated in forever. I am one of those annoying peope who never gets around to doing anything and makes too many empty promises. I have to deal with myself 24/7... just think of that.

Anyway, graduating lived up to every expectation (graduation day sucked just as much as I thought and the after bit was really good). I am gaining a new appreciation for the word "went" as in: "I went to OLP". It has a nice ring!

After the initial days of MaD PaRtyZzzZZ!!!! I spent the first week of summer in semi-hybernation trying to regain mental stamina. I slept a lot. It didn't help. I also cleaned my room in this time, which is a huge understatement. I got rid of ~20 cubic feet of crap/trash/clothes. It felt very refreshing.

Then I went to see The Faint and wore the most fabulous glam costume with Devon. We were the hottest ones there. I went out to the desert for a few days for my friend's birthday. It was 100 degrees and the entire resort was deserted (except for a few German people!). It was lovely. After that it's been a lotlotlot of beaching, bon-firing, a bit of sailing with the Christ-A and Devs and this kid from Norway who refuses to talk to me. He wears Armani shades and Dolce and Gabbana EVERYTHING. and a bandana. I kind of understand why he doesn't talk to me. Biggs, Walky, and I had a MAN VS. WILD party. I dressed as a Survivor and made fondue. and WE SAW HARRY AND THE POTTERS. I was luna lovegood (sans the lion hat, not yet made).

Today I got my first tutoring job for a freshman taking Chem over summer. She's super sweet and I'm actually excited about it. Plus, she has a friend who wants some tutoring and the SAT girl is almost back. So, I should have a bit of a job for the next three weeks, which will be nice because then I'll have money FOR JAPAN

that's right, I AM GOING TO JAPAN FOR THE END OF JULY
I have visions of Sakura and I in a Sanrio store, or trying to be in a Sanrio store, but not fitting because we do not fit in the country of Japan. It should be goooodtimes. and I'll be there for my 18th too, partyparty!

and after that I'll be working at camp-a-lot again :)

So, you'd think this was the end of the longest and most self-involved livejournal entry you've seen in a while, but you'd be wrong...

I feel like it's time for a little life update. But I'm really tired right now (didn't get my nap today) so excuse all errors.

Graduation is 21 days away, but I only have 10 days of actual school. I know I've been going on about it forever, but I really NEED to graduate. School is dragging down an otherwise pleasant time in my life. I feel like it's making me a bad person. I'm sorry to everyone who has to deal with me at school these days. I love you all, really.

Life outside of school has been very nice and a bit busy with trying to pretend it's summer and still getting all obligations done (and take AP tests). Ever since London (which I still need to show pictures from) I've been out of town every weekend (Stanford Admits, DisplaceMe, Keirstin's). I'm just not good at doing so many things. Most randomly, I was photographed by a French lady doing a series on American youth (scurrying through a "forest", crawling in dirt, caressing trees, the usual) and I think I sold a sketch I did in 2 minutes for $120 in OLP's art show. I love the art world. EVEN MORE RANDOM, I saw Fergie and Ludacris, among others, in concert.

Tomorrow I'm going up to Anaheim to see Third Eye Blind and I really can't even believe it. I've been waiting for this for TEN YEARS, and I might just pee my pants if they play Wounded. AND I'm seeing them again down here on Sunday, which makes for a busy weekend, with Prom (it's the prom!) and shooting the Man v. Wild parody movie, which is going to kick ass. I also offered to have the prom after-deal at my house, which will probably drive me insane but be really fun at the same time (?).

That sums it up I think. Oh, and I'm completely exhausted.

peace/love/sparkles

This always fucking happens. The Anaheim show is "sold out" (even though the website still says you can buy tickets!?!) and there're about 30 of them on ebay for around $60 each. Which is almost twice face value but only $15 more than I just payed for the SD ticket after ticketmaster. I hate having to fucking SELL MY SOUL each time I want concert tickets. If I had the willpower to boycot House of Fucking Blues, I would. Those slimy corporate tools. And I would mention ticketmaster but THEY ARE THE SAME THING. It's all so sad and it makes me cry and I need to get a job.

HELLO [Apr. 8th, 2007|12:08 am]
hi! I'm paying two bucks to use the internet in my hotel in London and I was trying to check sp for some of the London Placebo stops, but it's not working for me at the moment, so if any of you know of some, please let me know! (esp. the infamous tube stop)

otherwise, I fucking love this city.

hello to all of you and I hope those on break are enjoying it (please say you're at the beach)

I've been abandoning my livejournal. It's sad. I check everyone else's a lot. And I don't think it's impossible to have been abandoning something. I think that can only happen once. Let's say neglect. It sounds less traumatic anyway.

So, I LEAVE FOR LONDON ON THURSDAY. I've barely had time to get excited for it. I've been a bit overwhelmed by my whole situation recently (I don't really know what that situation is, but I think you catch me). I still have to pack, buy a new iPod (repair quote: $130. ew.), hope my ATM card comes for the bank account I opened yesterday, wash some clothes, figure out a way to bring homework but not books, etc. I just can't wait to get there and be away from school and the 'rents (and see Erin and STONEHENGE AGAIN. I love that place.)

and once I get back from the trip and my Stanford escapades, there's A MONTH AND A HALF until graduation and a bunch of fun things then as well (like AP tests! HA!)

but, more importantly, it's almost spring break, therefore, OCEAN. I haven't been in in sooo long. but it is time. BUOY SWIIIIIIIM.

In general news, 12-year-olds threw water balloons at me outside of a Rite Aid in North County. completely randomly. That would happen to me. and Devon. It was my, but more importantly Devon ans Sakura's last Uni play. A bittersweet moment. On Friday, Bronny and I went to Balboa Park and she played guitar while I danced and yelled at people to donate money for Schools for Schools. I was surprised we got so much, seeing as though we looked very un-legit, I have bad people skills, and it was a bit illegal. Also, you couldn't hear Bronny because of the giant fountain. But next time, we're taking it to the next level: Violin and real flyers. Just try and stop us. And we went to an AWESOME Amnesty International conference up at Cal State Fullerton with Nihura. The speakers were really, really good. and I felt like I was actually getting something accomplished for once in my life. We sold 20 loveUganda shirts, too. awwwyeah.

I'll stop now. byeeeee.

The last month just kinda happened. I guess time speeds up as graduation approaches. There is just so much Good Stuff coming up and going on. LOVE IT. It's so nice to be in school without having to really focus on the school part.

And Spring Sing is going to rock. In it's incredibly lame and fabulous way. I wish you could see some of my chorus moves, they are to DIE FOR. And we're forming the British flag out of pom-poms at the end. There may even be kazoos involved. I kidd you not.
If you want tickets (which you all do, obviously, seeing as though Walky and I are in it (MUPPET SMILE)) let me know. It will probably be worth it just to see me poof my hair in a go-go dress. I can't believe I enjoy this.

AND DEVON, DO I HAVE MY MADCAPS TICKET SECURED?

and finally, PLACEBO DATES )

Sadly for me, Coachella is out. I knew it was too good to actually happen. There is always an eskimo standing in my way.

and I can probably rule out Vegas. There is a slight hope for AZ seeing as though it's on that random 4 day weekend, but I wouldn't count on it with the faj. I'm already trying to get two LA shows in March and April... both on school nights.

SPEAKING OF WHICH:

Badly Drawn Boy
El Rey Theatre, Los Angeles, CA
Thu, Mar 22, 2007 09:00 PM

anyone game?

Placebo is playing coachella.

along with the rest of the world: http://www.coachella.com/

I WANT TO GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I know it's going to cost a kidney and my first born child but graduation is coming up and I'm sure I'll make up for it quickly and I have enough saved up right now, it's just a matter of keeping it that way.

I don't know if it's worth it or if I should try and do the whole weekend or what. From what I hear, 3 day passes are 250 and a single day 80, before tickmaster steals their souls and then there's the camping charge ~40 for the whole weekend. That's over half of my life savings. But I've never been to a festival before, I'll be leaving southern california soon, so I probably won't have this chance for a long time, and it would be the best graduation party ever.

I don't know, tell me if I'm being ridic.

edit: mapquest says: 2.5 hours.
the civi gets excellent gas mileage, may I add.

happy saturday [Jan. 6th, 2007|10:15 pm]
Yesterday, I came home and was lucky enough to catch the beginning of an America's Next Top Model Marathon. Thank god! I watched pretty much all of season 7. By 1:00 am, I was convinced that it was my purpose in life to lose 40 pounds, get a few ribs removed, and go to Barcelona. That lasted about 20 minutes.

I also watched the new Degrassi (!!!!!) with kames. IT. WENT. THERE. wow.
and before that, my dad sent kames and I to get lotto tickets from Point Loma Gas because it's up to 100 mil. Kames didn't have her ID, but she got them anyway... for the wrong lotto. but shhh, faj didn't notice.

Todayyy I avoided studying for finals by sleeping most of the day, helping kames pack, and working on my dragon for art all done )

he's pretty glam. he's covered with glitter, too. muahaha. He needs a name and I'll be taking suggestions through tomorrow night.

(also, we're getting Australia's Next Top Model in March. +10.)

Well, it's back to school the day after tomorrow. Such a shame. I have been thoroughly enjoying break.
Lots of good eats and holiday cheer
mooooovies
SIX FEET UNDER (finished the series, and O.M.G. best shit ever made right there)
hanging out with my new camera
I even made some weird clay stuff at Sak's (a brain-shaped piggy bank, a mushroom whistle, etc.)
pancakes on the pier
Walky's for Noo Yrr (funky-licious!)
my 93-year-old great aunt stayed with us, shooting spitballs and peeing on our furniture. haha.

I have been pretty sick the last few days, though. But I guess now's the time to do it. endless naps.

So, I'm trying to pretend that second semester senior year will be as close to a break as school can get. Go along with it, please.

BUT THERE IS BAD NEWS: Brand New is playing at SOMA on april 6 and I will be IN LONDON. small price to pay, I guess. I just feel bad for Biggs as she's afraid of going to shows without me.

and this is on top of probably missing Badly Drawn Boy FOR THE THIRD TIME. woe. woe.

(and a new background for the new year)
